About Richard Louv
Richard Louv is a journalist and author of nine books, including Last Child in the Woods and Our Wild Calling. His work has sparked an international movement to reconnect people—especially children—with nature. Louv is co-founder and Chairman Emeritus of the Children & Nature Network and coined the term “nature-deficit disorder.”

He’s appeared on national media such as the Today Show and NPR’s Fresh Air, and has spoken worldwide about the link between nature, health, and conservation. Honors include the Audubon Medal and awards from the San Diego Zoo, Chicago Zoological Society, and Clemson University.

His writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Outside. He has held academic appointments at Clemson and Brandeis and serves on advisory boards related to biophilic design and nature education. He lives with his wife, Kathy, and prefers hiking to writing.
