Portland Memory Garden Celebrates 23rd Anniversary
June 19, 2025 | 11:30 – 1:00 PM PT | Save the date now!An interdisciplinary group of community and national leaders began planning the Portland Memory Garden in October 1998. Partners developed the garden as one of the 100-gardens to honor the 1999 centenary celebration of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA). We broke ground in 2000 and dedicated the garden in May 2002. Major partners included the Center of Design for an Aging Society, ASLA, Alzheimer’s Association, Portland State University/School of Urban Studies & Planning, City of Portland Parks & Recreation and Legacy Health. Join us as we work to reengage our community members as we move through COVID-19. Please join Legacy Therapeutic Garden team members and other major partners on June 19, 2025, 11:30 – 1:00 at the garden to acknowledge the services this garden provides to the local community and for families supporting their loved ones living with dementia. Enjoy learning and engaging with tabling partners, nature activities, and reconnect with organizations and community members who supported the construction and the continued garden maintenance and programming. Meet and engage with HTRs involved in the history of the garden through the design, construction, maintenance, and programing. Event held rain or shine with a warm welcome to all community members for this free event. Bring pictures, story telling and other memorabilia of our amazing community project. Bring your lunch and take a break in nature. Enjoy music, socializing, relaxing and the inspiration of community leaders and nature. Meet at the Portland Memory Garden at Ed Benedict Park 10401 SE Bush St, Portland, OR 97266. The Portland Memory Garden - Portland, Oregon Health Benefits of Nature | asla.org
