A Request for proposals to present at the 51st American Horticultural Therapy Association Annual Conference

As horticultural therapists and allied health practitioners, we understand the importance of networking with our peers and sharing our ideas, successes, and experiences. Connecting with people from diverse backgrounds, regions, countries, and organizations is key to life-long learning and growing the field of horticultural therapy. Collaboration and uplifting the work of those across the horticultural therapy field is key to building resilience and adapting to change. This year’s theme focuses on the abundance of profound changes we are currently facing; climate change, the ubiquitous presence of technology, evolving perspectives, etc. Horticultural Therapy has the unique ability to not only address human health but environmental health as well. How can the practice of HT be activated to meet these challenges?

We invite individuals from the horticultural therapy community and allied health professionals to propose sessions and interactive workshops in the following areas:

  • Integrating climate change and biodiversity awareness into horticultural therapy (HT) / therapeutic horticulture (TH) practice.
  • New and proven methods for therapeutic interventions across nature-based therapies.
  • Introducing new techniques or modifying old ones as we adapt to stressors caused by change in many arenas; climate, areas of conflict, evolving perspectives, and use of technology, etc.
  • Representing diversity among HT/TH practitioners and researchers.
  • Collaboration and partnership models for resilience and long-term sustainability.

Presenters will be selected from proposals submitted in response to this Request for Proposals by a peer review panel. Please submit your proposal online by April 30, 2024. Notification of decisions will be sent by May 17, 2024.
